Wahu- The Feminine Voice of Kenya

Born Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, monomously referred by all as Wahu, is an amazing Kenyan female vocalist as well as a songwriter, an actress and an entrepreneur. She was formerly signed to Ogopa Deejays for the genre of music known as Afropop. It is not surprising she was a fashion model due to her attractive physique.

Early Life and Musical Beginning

Born in Nairobi on 22 March, in the year 1980, she commenced her educational journey at Hospital Hill Primary School and later proceeded to the Precious Blood High School, sited at Riruta. She attended the University of Nairobi where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Communication. While in high school, she decided to give a try towards her adoration for music which was her first song.

Musical Career

Wahu started her musical career in 2000. She shot up to stardom upon the release of her first song “Niangalie” which she received positive feedback as a result of it resonating deeply in the hearts of all music lovers across the globe.

Discography

Her first three successful singles were “Niangalie“, “Esha“, “Liar“. Wahu released her first major hit, “Sitishiki“, in 2005. She has entertained several African artists like the Kleptomaniacs, Fally Ipupa, Nonini, Nameless(her spouse), Wyre, Qqu, and P- Unit. She is also the inaugural recipient of the MTV Africa Music Awards In 2008. In 2017, she released her new gospel song.

In 2013, as a business entrepreneur, she opened a salon for the rendering of services such as spa, hair, manicure and pedicure services.

Filmography

In the movie industry, she was seen in the television series, Tazama , as one of the lead characters.

Personal Life

In 2005, she married David Mathenge alias Nameless, another award-winning Kenyan musician with three wonderful children.
